Tember is a loner who has never even thought about being in a relationship with a boy, let alone a girl. She’s just waiting until she turns eighteen and has enough money saved to run away from her unbearable life with her grandparents.
Gracie has everything Tember never knew she was missing—a good education and a loving father, who is supportive of her sexual orientation and even tries to set her up with girls.
When he introduces the two girls, Gracie’s blue eyes and strong character immediately catch Tember’s attention. But a summer romance is not Tember’s style, especially since she’s about to run away.

I loved this book/story it was super sweet, funny, tragic, and heart warming. The characters where cute together and had great personalities to boot. Just an all around heart warming story, triumph in some times heart breaking circumstances. Proof that there are still good stories to be told! I am off to read some more stories by this author.

Hope a Canoe edition by Michele M Reynolds Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was a nice heartwarming story of first love and coming to terms with your sexuality at eighteen years old. Characters were well developed and well written. You will enjoy this book no matter what age you are.
Amazing story line, both main characters intrigued me. Tember, unique name by the way, is a interesting character. Raised by grandparents who treat her like a servant instead of their grandchild, one that's messed up, two still has a lovable and caring heart. And Grace the girl next door, the girl one wishes to come across one of these days and shout out "I am so gay for you". This is a must read, left me with a smile on my face. Totally loved it.
This was yet another book by Ms. Reynolds that got read in a single sitting. It reminded me a bit of Trail Swap in that there's a sense of fairly deep loneliness contrasted with the difference that acts of kindness can make for people. The relationship between Tember and Gracie is well built and I absolutely loved Gracie's interactions with her father.
This book captured some of the best character relationships I have read so far. The characters all brought something unique to the table. It took me a minute to find Tember's voice - I wanted to read her as though she were younger than she was because she was such a loner but I finally found her voice after reading it a bit more. The author did a fantastic job juxtaposing a wonderfully developing relationship against a really awful and sad situation. I actually LOVED how quickly the relationship between the two girls developed. I loved how sure Grace was of herself and how much she wanted Tember. I think Jeremy was one of the brightest parts of the book.

I'm holding out for a sequel.
These 2 girls found love almost immediately but staying together proved to be difficult. Although one girl's father accepted the fact they had discovered they were lesbian the slimy grandparents tried to separate them so they could continue to keep the parentless girl as their servant and provider. It is a TRULY moving and emotional story. It is a well written book and will give you a rollercoaster of emotions with love.

If you get this book you will be rewarded with having read such a great story!
A tender, light-hearted read. I wish all parents had a little bit of Jeremy's character in them. Great company for a rainy day.
I enjoy all the books I have read by this author. She creates interesting, flawed, and unique characters. Look forward to more!
